GOOD READS PARTIES + FATHER'S DAY FREEBIE

Because I LOVE to write really long posts as of late and time is oh-so precious these days, I have decided to put the Father's Day Freebie up top today.  This way you can choose to snag it and run if you are super busy . . . or stay around to read about some books you just may want to add to your summer reading list! How ya like them apples, folks?

This mini packet will be available tomorrow (fingers and toes crossed).  I woke up with a crazy Daddy Day gift/craft idea and I have been playing around with it all day.  Check back tomorrow :).  However, you don't have to wait for all of the Father's Day fun!  Snatch a FREE Father's Day Bubble Map down below.  It's a great way to fill time these last few weeks as well as sneak in some last minute adjective practice!  I have included an alternate version for those kiddos who may not have fathers (simply write in grandpa, uncle, or friend)!

There are so many wonderful Linky Parties going on out there and I so want to join in the fun.  When I saw two of my bloggin' buddies highlighting one of my favorite things on the planet (books), these parties immediately jumped to the top of my "linky list."

First up, Jessica at Mrs. Stanford's Class is hosting a Good Reads Linky.  This is such a wonderful idea (and it's her very first one)!  With summer right around the corner we finally get to read what we want!  I have already seen a couple of great books on this Linky that I can't wait to sit in the sun and read. Here are the first two that I can't wait to pop open.
I saw a documentary on PBS showcasing the educational turn around in Finland.
It was fascinating (no standardized testing, long lunches, short days . . . yet they are number one in the nation).
I can't wait to read more about it!
I am soooooo excited for this one.  It is a book just for me (no school allowed)!
This author wrote The Reliable Wife and I have been waiting for his next book for more than a year.
It comes out in June - perfect timing, huh?!?
Mrs. Nelson over at Run! Mrs. Nelson's Got the Camera extended an invite to her All Time Favorite Read-Alouds Linky and I just had to accept.  It fits perfectly with Jessica's party too!

You will definitely notice a theme in most of the books I love to read to my kids. I am all about silly stories.  There is nothing better than seeing your kiddos crack up on the carpet.

I am so down with anything from Dav Pilkey.  This guy kills me and the kids always love his stories!  I read both of these every year (along with most of his other books) and I never get tired of them!

Tedd Arnold is one of my favorite authors (notice the pattern forming here). Parts is a little over my first graders' heads, but they still really love the pictures and the overall story. We always read ALL of the Fly Guy books too - one of my kiddos now has an invisable fly named, Buzzy, because of these tales!  He actually brings his "pet" for share every couple of months . . . hehehehe :)

We read this during our Africa Unit.  If you haven't seen it you HAVE to pick it up.  I think it just may be my favorite children's book.  It's totally silly, simple, and kind of stupid, but it's a gem I tell ya!

Finally, MLK books always warm my heart.  I read these two every year and I have a really hard time emotionally.  I always end up tearing up at the end and the kids get all concerned.  These books are great reminders for all of us.

If you made it this far, thanks for sticking around.  I hope you have a magical Tuesday.  See you tomorrow . . . hopefully with a little Daddy Day something!
