FABULOUS FOOTBALL FLASH GIVEAWAY + FREEBIE

Oh my word friends . . . so excited for the Super Bowl next weekend.  Although my beloved Manning didn't make it into the BIG GAME this year (am still recovering from this loss), I am lucky enough to get the next best thing.  Cali is representing . . . BOOM!!  Okay, so truth be told, I bet against them in my playoff pool and now I am out of the running.  However, if I have to be WAY out of the $$$$, I'm glad it was the Niners who knocked me out.

CLICK HERE and get yourself entered!
To help celebrate, I have teamed up with the eva-fabulous Katie King for a Fabulous Football Flash Giveaway.  And that's only the start of it . . . Susan from TGIF and Michelle from Fabulous in First are in on it too!  You can win everything you need to do the Super Bowl up riz-ite in your room this year.  But you best hurry.  The contest ends at 7pm TONIGHT (Sunday).

With this said, I am offering up my Fantastic Football Pack.  I came out with it at the start of football season as a kick off unit, but this puppy can definitely be used to end it too.  Here are some pictures of my kiddos rollin' with with the activities . . .

I also have this fun football-themed freebie up for grabs.  I used it at the beginning of the year with my firsties for number sense and team building. However, now that we are in January you could use math facts, create odd and even teams, and/or slap tough sight words on 'em instead of numbers . . . the sky is the limit :)

I am off to finish up on my Valentine Math Centers and plan next week.  Thanks so much for poppin' in for a visit today.  Enjoy your Sunday folks.

QUEEN OF HEARTS - MATH FREEBIE

First off today, I have decided to throw caution to the wind and offer up Queen of Hearts Math Center as a freebie.  Okay . . . so there isn't really any "caution" to be tossin' around, but it sure made things sound super dramatic :)

This little card game will surely steal your babes' hearts come math center time. I tried this with my kiddos earlier this week and they were all smiles. Little did they know that they were comparing numbers, working together, and tappin' into higher level thinking skills . . . love it when this happens!  Click here to snag your free copy of this game.

This game is part of my We Heart Math Centers Pack.  My afternoons were leaving me with a rather ho-hum feeling as of late, so I created 10 new valentine-themed center games to spice my math tubs up.  With all this said (too much as always . . . I'm a talker), I wanted to offer up my "try it before you buy it" deal.  If you like how the freebie plays out with your crew, come on back and snag the whole pack.

Alright folks, I am signing off.  Be sure to check out all the fantastic freebies TBA has to offer this week.  See you soon!!!

THE RETURN OF MY SWEET STORY - ADJECTIVE FREEBIE

We aim to please over here at the Factory.  So . . . when I received a request to make another Sweet Story Freebie to go with the upcoming holiday, I just couldn't say no.  And, the best part is that my own kids are gonna freak when I bring this one back to class next week.  It's a win-win for everyone :)

Bubbly Borders + More just came out with this
snazzy glitter border . . . swoon!
So, this is a great game that can be played in a whole class or small group setting.  Here's how this heartwarming ditty rolls . . .

Prepare for this activity by printing out a class set of the story templates and adjective mats of choice.  In addition, every child will need one conversation heart candy. (I suggest having a few back up candies as they can break or roll away!)

To begin play, students drop their heart candy on their adjective mat. The word that the treat lands on (or is closest to) is written in any space on their story template.  Students continue this process until all of the spaces on their story template are filled!

Here are a few additional notes on the game . . . .
  • As kiddos complete the task, I always ask them them illustrate their creations on the back of their story template (many of my babes will ask to color the front too).
  • Considering the toll this horrendous flu season has taken on our little classroom, I will be trading my kids when they finish.  You are probably asking yourself . . . is that English??  Let me explain this a bit better . . . I'll have my kiddlets give me the candy they played with in exchange for a sealed and germ-free box of convo hearts :)
  • When everyone's crazy story was completed, my kids will cruise the room and read their stories to each other!
  • Two adjective mat templates are included in this FREEBIE pack.  One of the adjective mats is a little crazier than the other . . . pick the one that is right for you and your crew of kiddos!
I will be sure to swing back in and post pictures of this cute game when I run with it next week.  If you would like to see the Christmas version of this activity in action, click here.  My kids ate it up!

Alright, I am almost out of here.  Please don't forget to take a moment to enter my We HEART a Good Giveaway contest that is rolling right now.  You have until midnight tonight (Saturday - CDT) to get yo-self entered.  We are talking sweeter than sweet prizes from A Year of Many "Firsts," Growing Firsties, Little Miss Organized, and this crazy place!  Just click the giveaway button below to magically transport to the Rafflecopter thingy-do!!

MARCH GOOD MORNING WORK (READING) + FREEBIE

Hey friends!  Happy Friday!  I am scooting off to a doctor's appointment in the city and gotta jet soon, so I am going to wrap this one up quickly today :) I wanted to pop in and let all you alls know that I finished up my March Good Morning Work (Reading) packet.

For those of you who aren't familiar with these ditties, let me give you the skinny.  Every month I create a collection of daily warm ups (25 pages in all) to get your kiddos started off right.  Each page is common core aligned and I am very mindful of crafting rigorous and meaningful pages that your students can do independently.  I also "chunk" my concepts.  In other words, the pack targets a specific set of skills for five days in a row before moving on to cover 3-4 different common core standards.  I have found that this helps my kiddos feel much more successful and it buys you a few "extra minutes" each morning to take care of biz-nas!

This month's covers parts of speech, alphabetical order, commas, pronouns, detained sentence writing, sentence editing, antonyms, synonyms, punctuation, phonics concepts, syllables, and so much more!

I always like to offer up a "Try 'Em Before You Buy 'Em Deal" with these.  So, I have put a few pages up for FREE down below.  If you like what unfolds in your classroom, come on back and snag the whole pack.  Good Morning Work (Math) Pages are also available to try . . . HERE.

I just put my two President Packs on sale.  They will be available at a discounted price through the weekend.  Click on the pics to check them out!

Alright friends . . . the car is packed and I have to go.  I pushed it until the very last second {again}!  Have a wonderful weekend.  I'll see you soon :)

GIMMIE THAT HALL PASS + GOOD MORNING WORK

I feel like I have been rewarded with a Hall Pass as I am takin' a big old breather right now.  They call it Winter Break . . . and I have the whole week off. I know.  I know.  Don't hate me.

As I take a moment to step back from the hustle and bustle that is school and reflect on my practices, I stumbled across the perfect Linky Party . . . HALL PASS.  To make things even more perfect, it's being hosted by one of my all time faves - none other than Ms. Reagan Tunstall!

P - PRODUCT
My favorite product has to be my Good Morning Work Packets.  These babies have saved my life in the morning and have helped my kiddos become great independent workers.  They are common core aligned and I work hard to create meaningful and rigorous collections each and every month.  I just finished up my March Math Packet (the reading will be available this weekend). If you are new to my Good Morning Work Packets, I have attached some free "try 'em before you buy 'em" pages below.  Try them out with your crew and if you like what you see, come on back and snag the whole pack.

A - AREA
My favorite area in my room has to be my walls.  I heart bulletin boards with every ounce of my teacher being.  Well, it just so happens that my walls love to take staples and I am all about plastering my space with student work.  Make 'em big and make 'em bright is my motto.

This is tame!  Usually this board is 5-6 deep.
I have a stack to hang still . . . Ms. Dolling has been slackin' :)
S - SIGNAL
My signals are pretty straight forward.  When the reading group timer sounds (a Dollar Store piece of junk), they know to clean their space, stand behind their chairs, and get ready to transition.  I also train 'em early on my "One. Two. Three. Eyes Up." It's just like it sounds and they have this down pat.  This works especially well when they are doing some sort of small group game or whole class activity and I need their attention.  Finally, if someone or a small group is gabbing, I give the "I'll wait."  The other kids freak out and do my job for me when I toss this one out.  It doesn't take long for my babes to get those chattin' kiddos to zip it.  We learned how to do this in a nice manner right up front and this signal is a gem I tell ya!

S - SANE
My teaching bestie keeps me sane.  If you are lucky enough to have one in your life, you know exactly what I am talking about.  I have mentioned good old Court quite a few times now, but she truly is my partner in crime and the only one who helps me keep my head above water.  I don't know what I would do without this girl.

Alright, I am off to finish the last five pages of my reading version of Good Morning Work.  I should have it up tomorrow or Friday at the latest.  Thanks so much for visiting me today! Don't forget to pop on over to Tunstall's Teaching Tidbits and tell us about your Hall PASS!

MAIN IDEA + SILLY HATS + FREEBIE

I don't know about you, but Main Idea is a tough one to teach to kiddos.  My file on this concept has remained super skinny and I have always had a hard time wrapping my brain around how I want to deliver this to my babes.  Well, last Monday had a "ah-ha" moment while driving to school (I took feverish notes on the back of my checkbook) and was able to create something that finally made sense to me.

I thought this would be a quick little pack, but it ended up being 70 pages.  It shocked me because I am much more of a "short story" writer :)  However, once I started, one thing marched on to another . . .

As I created this pack, I tried to put my myself in my kiddos' shoes.  Will this make sense to them?  Is it meaningful?  Is challenging, but not too hard?  Will they enjoy this?  Yes, my brain pretty much chatted with itself throughout the entire creation process!

I tried very hard to offer multiple versions of each activity so that it was beneficial for grades 1-3.  They all come with dotted and non-dotted lines and many offer multiple ways to run with the activity or game.  (The photo below shows only a handful of the pages in the pack.)

Oh, and yes, that is another silly hat.  If you have followed me long enough you know that I LOVE me some crazy "wearable work!"  My friends were teasing me and asked if my hubby takes all of the modeling photos.  Yup, he finds his inner photog and shoots away! I need to add the fool to the bankroll . . .

I couldn't let you get all the way down here without offering up a little goodie  (especially after having to look at my dippy as all get out mug). So, here's a little practice page that I created for this pack.  If you like what you see, check out all the deets on my new Main Idea Packet.

On a final note today . . . don't forget that my mega Good Morning Work Bundles are on deep discount for the next few weeks.  If you buy in now, you save $13/pack and get yo-self a years worth of warm-up work (August-June).

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I have a four hour meeting at school later this morning (barf-a-roon-ee) and I better get to lesson planning before I have to jet on out of here.  Have a great Sunday y'all . . . I'll see you soon.
