 On a mildly related note, I am still working on my mega B-B-B-BUG UNIT as well as a COWBOY themed doozie. I had big plans to make a nice dent in one of these, but alas, my lunch took me down again. Grrrrr . . . get it together gut! Oh well - life could be A LOT worse ;).

EARTH DAY UNIT NOW AVAILABLE

Happy Sunday folks!  Well, I finally finished it.  My Earth Day Unit is available for download at Teachers Pay Teachers and will soon be available in my Intelli-Tunes store. Check out this cuter-than-cute art/writing project that's included in the unit . . .
My kids always get a kick out of incorporating a real photo of themselves into their art projects.
I have never really touched on this topic in the past and I was thinking that it would be a great post-Easter Break theme to tide us over until our MEGA open house unit hits.  I packed it with tons of standards-based reading and writing activities as well as a couple of fun independent center opportunities.  We're talkin' a parts of speech sort, fact/opinion center, cause and effect work, friendly letter writing, compare/contrast venn, and so much more.    

This unit even comes with a FREE song.  I teamed up with Ron Brown's Intelli-Tunes and he is offering his Every Day an Earth Day song in his FREE STUFF AREA for a limited time.  (His music has been a wonderful addition to my lessons and themes - it's all standards-based and the kiddos love it.)  On that note, visit Intelli-Tunes to get your copy today (click the link on right side of this blog and visit the free stuff area).

GROW GREATNESS - NEW GARDEN/PLANT UNIT

As promised yesterday . . . here is my plant unit!  I worked my fingers to the bone pounding away at my keyboard today and I managed to get it done!  This is my largest unit to date and it is jam-packed full of activities, games, science-based craftivities, centers and independent worksheets that really target those core standards (K-2).  It even comes with a FREE seed song from Ron Brown's Intelli-Tunes.  On that exciting note, I just posted it up in my TPT store and it will be in my Intelli-Tunes' store by mid-day tomorrow. There is also a FREEBIE toward the end of this post . . . scroll on down folks!

This unit targets money, patterns, word problems, sight words, contractions, parts of speech,
writing, science concepts . . . the list goes on . . . and on . . . and on!
Here is an up close look-see at my favorite Planty-flavored craftivity in this pack.  It's really easy to implement with your babes, it requires little prep, and look great on a classroom skywire or wall!

WHAT GOES WELL WITH A GARDEN FREEBIE . . . ?

Bugs . . . bugs . . . and more bugs. I took a slight detour with yesterday's garden unit, but I just couldn't stay away for long.  Below you will find a few tidbits about my new insect packet as well as that plant FREEBIE I promised!

 My Incredible Insect Book is a cute little collection of craftivity/writing projects that you can turn into the best little insect book.  I ran with this in my Kinder class last year and they really loved it.  I must give a shout out to the wonderful Evergreen K Crew for giving me this student book idea.  It was a gem of a notion and I ran with it.  Although I spun it off in a new direction, as a tribute to their generosity it still contains one of the cute buggy pages that they shared with me last year!  
This little ant hill just makes me smile!  There are 4 other awesome
craftivities just like this one in my new packet on TPT!

Last, but not least this evening, I just have to share my awesome news.  The doctor lifted my diet restrictions last week and fiber is back in the game.  Take a look-see at what this girl had for the first time in OVER A YEAR.  I have two very delicious words for you.  BEAN. BURRITO. Okay, okay . . . so I had 2 inches of my colon removed 8 weeks ago, but it'll be just fine, right?  Night, y'all!

SPRINGTIME SKILLS REVIEW - BALLPARK STYLE

We hit a little graphics issue with the Western Pack.  It will be up soon, but I had to keep on truckin'.  So . . . with April in full swing, I thought it was time to create something with a little baseball flavor (there is a FREEBIE up for grabs tonight as well). 
I personally cannot wait to hit up a MLB game in the near future - SF all the way, baby! While I was growing up, I was lucky enough to catch a couple of games each and every summer at good old Candlestick Park (love you mom and dad). Remembering the thrill of the man screaming about his yummy "red ropes," watching my team run out of the tunnel, and feeling the sun on my shoulders darn-near brings tears to my eyes. There's just something about a baseball game!  Oh yeah . . . and from age 10 to about age 12, I wanted to marry Will "THE THRILL" Clark.  This made attending even better!

(We won't get into his looks now.)
On that note of nostalgia, this packet hits up all of the "major league" language arts standards that I know my own kiddos need to review. YEE-HAW - WILD WEST UNIT & FREEBIE

Yippee-ki-yay . . . I outsmarted that mean old graphic and finished up this Wild West/Cowboy Unit! It's now available on TPT or in my Intelli-Tunes store.  In honor of my success, I have a great little math game up for grabs today . . . FREE of charge.  That's right folks . . . FREE of charge!

Here are a couple of cute photos from our school's Rodeo Day.  We go all out at good old Evergreen.  From a yummy pancake breakfast and horseshoe tossin' to western themed center activities and chick petting . . . . it's a great day for our kids, parents, and teachers.  

 

 



Well, as I ride off into the sunset this evening (I promised my hubby that I would be off of the computer by the time he got home tonight), I leave you with two thoughts.  One . . . I have three more great end of the year units/packets in the works. Two . . . it's Survivor and American Idol night. YEE-HAW!

SO HUNGRY + WILD ABOUT PLURALS FREEBIE

Hey friends.  (Prepare your self it's a long one up top, but there is a plural center FREEBIE down below.)  I know I have been a little lame-o in the posting department lately.  Here is my confession.  I finally sat down to read the Hunger Games.  OMG!  These are fantastic.  I kept resisting the whole "Hunger wave," but I am so glad I finally gave in.  I am almost finished with book two and I haven't been able to put them down.  I even managed to rope my hubby into them.  He was teasing me relentlessly and I made him start the first one and he is already on the thrid book (way ahead of me).  So . . . that's my MIA story.

I also have some ROCKIN' news to share.  Although my body is still not 100 percent, I have an appointment with the doc early next week about me returning to work.  Yeah, there are only 3 weeks left, but I'll take what I can get.  People say that I am crazy trying to go back this late in the game, but I just can't stay away.  I am determined to return . . . even if it requires begging :).  This picture represents my excitement!!!! 


On a school-related note, I have been able to put the book down long enough to make a center or two for my first grade team.  I figured that I might as well share it with you guys too.  We are in the middle of our Africa unit.  The kids have loved learning about all of the animals and habitats . . . and I just couldn't resist creating a zebra-themed center.  It's Called Wild About Plurals and you can snag it down below. 


Well . . . that's it folks.  I am off to read some more and maybe (just maybe) clean my office.  It's a total disaster . . . again!

MY SUMMER BUCKET LIST + FLIP FLOP FREEBIE

I am a little late in the game, but I am so excited to join up with Mrs. Cupcake, Hadar, and April's Summer Bucket List Linky Party. (Keep reading . . . there's a fun Summer-Themed FREEBIE down below!) 


Although I have been off on surgery leave for what seems like an eternity and I am just now going back for the last three weeks (fingers crossed . . . I have a message into the doc), summer still excites me as do the projects that come along with it!  So without further ado . . . here's my TOP 5 list!

ONE - WORK IN MY YARD
We moved in December and scored one amazing yard.  In a few short months I have discovered just how much I love to fiddle in the dirt.  I want to fill in the "holes" and keep puttering all summer!



TWO - COOK/BAKE NEW THINGS
I have "pinned" countless recipes and it's time to actually try them.  I need to get out of my meal rotation rut!

THREE - WORK ON NEW UNITS
I have so many ideas swimmin' around in my noggin! I can't wait to start working on them.  

FOUR - SCORE OREGON DUCK'S TICKETS
I have it programed in my phone . . . I am NOT missing the ticket sale opening this year.  My honey and I have spaced the opening of ticket sales three years running (duh!).  We either managed to scrounge up really cruddy seats to not so hot games or we missed out on tickets completely.  Not this year I tell you (Court, my teaching bestie . . . are you in?) OOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!  

Never mind that awful Cal sign in the back ... we invaded their territory!
And . . . that is apple juice I am holding ;)
AHHHHH . . . Autzen . . . how I love you!
FIVE - PREP THE "LITTLE THINGS"
I want to make next year as easy as possible (haha . . . I've said that before). But, I think if I work a bit this summer on prepping the little things that really eat up valuable time during the school year it will make a HUGE difference.  I definitely want to make up these cool new student packs and get all of my birthday gifts/certs prepared!  

     


Well . . . that's my list.  I'll give you an update on how I am doing with it later this summer.  

Before I get to the FREEBIE, I want to give a HUGE shout out to Susan over at T.G.I.F (Thank God It's First).  I was her big winner yesterday and I scored her awesome Addition with 3 Addends Packet.  I am so excited to use this.  Thanks again Susan :)  YOU ROCK!

Finally this afternoon . . . a little FLIP FLOP Summer Fun Center Game.  The best part is that it's FREE.  This game is played in a small group and the directions are outlined below.  
  1. Make one set of game cards per center group and place them face down on the table (I always divide my bigger groups up and run two games).  
  2. Students take turns drawing and reading the wave cards.  To "capture" the card they must be able to tell the group its part of speech.  
  3. Play continues until all of the cards have been captured or the center rotation ends.  
  4. To add a little more zing to the game, six flip flop cards have been added to the deck.  If one of these cards is selected, the student gets to "flip flop" or trade cards with anyone else at the table.  
  5. A follow up worksheet is included!
